With sweet onion, vivid habanero and bright citrus, our Yassa Fonio Pilaf is an homage to a signature Senegalese dish, Chicken Yassa. It is the perfect spicy side to roast chicken, grilled fish or veggie skewers.
Yassa may have started in Senegal, but it is enjoyed throughout West Africa. Here, we adapt the flavors in what amounts to a spicy, tangy, smothered-in-onions sauce to a 5 minute side dish that will make your table as lively as ours are back home. Low calorie and nutrient-dense, fonio is a source of fiber, iron, B-vitamins, zinc, and magnesium.
Ingredients: Fonio, onion, salt, contains 2% or less of: carrot, date sugar, dried yeast, lime juice powder (maltodextrin, lime juice solids), sunflower oil, lemon powder (rice maltodextrin, lemon juice concentrate, lemon oil), scallions, lime leaves, spices.
We clean up after ourselves.
