Hello, everyone! It’s me, Lia—and Yumday is now a year old! 🥳🎉 It’s hard to believe that it’s been a year since I first put this foodie passion project out into the world. In the past twelve months, I’ve celebrated so many food holidays, and in the process I have:
- Learned interesting backstories to a bunch of those food holidays (like National Doughnut Day!)
- Gained a lot of confidence in the kitchen (my baking skills have definitely leveled up)
- Cooked and baked some very fancy things like lobster in puff pastry shells, as well as some really odd dishes like a “Noodle Ring” 😬
- And discovered and connected with incredible people who love food just as much as I do! 🤗
During the past year, sharing on Yumday has brought me a lot of joy and comfort. (Who knew what we’d be facing in 2020???) And I’m excited to keep following this curiosity and to keep cooking, eating, and learning. I’m also really looking forward to getting to know more women and people of color in food and beverage. If I can help lift their stories in any way, that would be a dream.
I have so much that I’m eager to give in this space—and if I can add just a little bit of joy to your day, that would be the best feeling. Thank you all for joining me on this journey! And now it’s time for some birthday cake. 🎂
