September 16th is National Guacamole Day! I eat avocado almost every day, and I’m pretty sure that my body is probably 90% guacamole at this point. I mean, I’m a little chunky and spicy—just like my guac. 😂
To me, the best guacamole is the simplest guacamole. All you need is an avocado, lime, jalapeño, cilantro, and red onion. I never measure anything, so I mix up the ingredients and taste and season as I go. Some days I want extra heat, so I’ll add more jalapeño. Sometimes I want it super limey, so I’ll zest some lime in addition to using the juice. And, if I happen to have a tomato that I need to use, I’ll chop it up and throw it in my guac, too.
But if you’re looking for some good guacamole recipes, here are are links to a few of my fave chefs/bloggers with good guac recipes:
- Love and Lemons – Best Guacamole Recipe
- What’s Gaby Cooking – Best Guacamole EVER
- Gimme Some One – The BEST Guacamole Recipe!
You’ll notice these are all the “BEST” recipes. And you know what? I’m not going to argue with that.
And if you’ve ever been to Rosa Mexicano before and had their guac, Epicurious has a recipe for Rosa Mexicano’s famous guacamole. Their table side guacamole presentation is awesome. There’s nothing like watching your guac being made in a giant molcajete right in front of you.
No matter your guacamole style, I hope you have a very tasty National Guacamole Day!
