September 13th is National Peanut Day! I’m celebrating the best way I know how… with a huge takeout order of chicken pad Thai (spicy!) and tofu summer rolls with peanut sauce.
There are a few different peanut celebrations throughout the year. For instance, there’s Peanut Butter Day on January 24th. We have Peanut Brittle Day on January 26th. There’s Chocolate-Covered Peanuts Day on February 25th. There’s also Peanut Cluster Day on March 8th, followed by Peanut Lovers Day on March 15th. Plus, Peanut Butter and Jelly Day is on April 2nd. And these are just the peanut holidays during the first four months of the year. (Check out the Food Holidays page for more!)
I love the versatility of the peanut; and apparently so do others, as evidenced by the crazy number of peanut-centric food holidays. Peanuts are great snacks. They’re awesome as an ingredient in desserts. And there’s no way I can resist a good old fashioned creamy peanut butter sandwich. But I love peanuts in savory dishes, and I felt like pad Thai noodles with crushed peanuts and cool summer rolls with a delicious peanut sauce for dipping was a good way to honor this nutty holiday.
