According to the Internet and @chiquitabanana, August 27th is National Banana Lovers Day. 🍌🍌🍌 Earlier this year, I was making banana bread like nobody’s business! But then I turned my attention to sourdough, so my life is now dedicated to my starter. (The person who said that sourdough starter is like a tamagotchi for people in their 30s was so right! 😂)
But you know, I’m thinking I might have to make some banana bread again soon because it’s so easy and delicious—plus, it’s my favorite way to eat bananas. 🍌 (Raise your hand if you’re still making banana bread! 🙋🏻♀️) It’s also a great way to prevent food waste because if you have any bananas that might be a little past their prime, they’re perfect for turning into this quick bread. In fact, the older and mushier the banana, the better it is for this recipe.
If you aren’t into banana bread, maybe a banana cream pie would do. I thought of that as an option for today because there’s an excellent local bakery that specializes in mini pies—and banana cream is one of them. (Btw, Banana Cream Pie Day is March 2nd.)
