Home » National Strawberries and Cream Day
May 21st is National Strawberries and Cream Day! Sure, you could celebrate with fresh strawberries dipped in cream—but how about taking it up a notch? If you want to level-up, you could make a strawberry compote and spread it on pound cake. With whipped cream on top, of course!
But if you can’t get your hands on fresh berries, you can use frozen strawberries to make a simple fruit compote. This recipe from Minimalist Baker is one of my go-to recipes. It couldn’t be any simpler! Using only two ingredients, you can have a fresh, sweet compote in a matter of minutes, which you can put on practically anything!
You can put together an easy, semi-homemade dessert by taking pound cake slices and topping it with compote and whipped cream. The compote goes great on top of pancakes and waffles. You can even put it on top of ice cream for the ultimate sweet treat!
Tell me how you’re celebrating National Strawberries and Cream Day! Are you keeping it simple? Or are you taking it up a notch? (Hello to all my #extra people out there!) Let me know in the comments or on Instagram at @yumdayco!
